Creating Formations
Build custom formations for your team's unique strategies.
Creating a New Formation
- Go to Formations
- Click Create Formation or the + button
- Enter a formation name
- Position your players on the field
- Save the formation
Positioning Players
Adding Players
- Click on the field to add a player marker
- Drag players to position them
- Each position shows a number or label
Player Labels
You can label positions by:
- Number (1, 2, 3...)
- Position (QB, RB, WR...)
- Role (Point, Wing, Post...)
Alignment Guides
Use the grid and alignment tools to:
- Snap to grid positions
- Align players horizontally
- Align players vertically
- Space players evenly
Formation Settings
Basic Information
- Name: Clear, descriptive name
- Category: Offensive, Defensive, Special Teams
- Description: Optional notes about when to use
Field Settings
- Field Type: Full field, half field, or custom area
- Orientation: Direction of play
- Sport Template: Field markings for your sport
Organizing Formations
Categories
Group formations by type:
- Offensive Formations
- Defensive Formations
- Special Teams
- Practice Drills
Tags
Add tags for quick filtering:
- By strategy (passing, running, zone)
- By situation (goal line, 2-minute drill)
- By opponent tendencies
Editing Formations
To modify an existing formation:
- Open the formation from your library
- Click Edit
- Make your changes
- Save

Changes to a formation do not automatically update plays using that formation. Plays store a copy of the formation at the time it was applied.
Duplicating Formations
Create variations quickly:
- Open an existing formation
- Click Duplicate or Save As
- Give it a new name
- Modify as needed
Great for creating similar formations with slight variations.
Deleting Formations
- Open the formation
- Click Delete or the trash icon
- Confirm deletion

Deleting a formation doesn't affect plays already using it—they retain their player positions.
